The Technion will host the inaugural Global Network for Advanced Management “unconference” in Haifa, Israel, from August 28 to 30, during which scholars and professors will discuss ways to further incorporate entrepreneurship initiatives into the network.

At the event, faculty will investigate opportunities for teaching entrepreneurship by incorporating student venture competitions, student exchanges, and executive education, among other elements, into their curricula.

While part of the agenda has been pre-determined, at least one day of the gathering’s agenda is left open, in keeping with the flexible unconference format, to allow for the free flow of ideas and development of new concepts under minimal restrictions. The event is largely driven by its attendees, allowing for open discussion of new topics as determined by faculty.

Ryan Schill, a professor of entrepreneurship at INCAE Business School and one of the event’s organizers, said that the event is an opportunity for faculty across the Network to learn about the different approaches to entrepreneurship around the world.

“Activities like the unConference promote cross-collaboration to un-silo our often regionally categorized methods for coping with uncertainty,” Schill said. “It opens up borders and lines of communication to deal with challenges and allows us to see how others have succeeded in similar and not-so-similar economies… The reality is we have to teach and implement alternative methods to survive in entrepreneurship.”
