Aviation Finance is a module on real asset financing, with a focus on understanding the concepts and financial tools underpinning this large and growing industry. Boeing, the equipment manufacturer, forecasts a demand for 43,000 new aircraft over the next 20 years, with a market value of $2.9 trillion. In a cash-constrained industry, airlines are relying more on specialist aircraft leasing companies. This has the effect of separating out the operational side of the airline from its financing requirements. This module will look at lease transaction modelling, an array of financing options, credit risk, structured finance and other relevant topics. There will also be a focus on the aircraft, discussing the different types of aircraft, factors that impact their valuation and the influence of the maintenance cycle. The module will appeal to those with an interest in asset rich businesses such as aviation, infrastructure, property and shipping, or those looking to understand more about structured finance.
