Covid-19 has not only endangered the global economy but also affected societies in profound ways. Nonetheless, the pandemic has shown an even more existential threat: environment and climate change. Considering the potential long-term harm of climate crisis on the future of humanity, government’s strategies to curb the consequences of Coronavirus crisis must not undermine climate and environmental concerns. As an attempt to balance the development of economy, society and environment at the same time, Indonesia government has designed a green growth stimulus package in its national economic recovery program. Green growth recovery is the pursuance of economic development and the creation of new employment opportunities while ensuring environmental sustainability.
In addition, many companies have been conducting environmental initiatives because going green benefits them in many ways. However, being eco-friendly may cost an arm and a leg, thus, it is intriguing to find out the motives, benefits and challenges of companies adopting sustainable initiatives. It is also appealing to get a picture about how green practices boost a firm’s performance while reconcile environmental and sustainability benefits.
The GNAM Week program will be presenting speakers from various background – academics, business people and policy makers – to provide answers to the above-mentioned questions. By learning from inspiring and delightful speakers about their commitments to environmental stewardship, participants will gain insights and knowledge regarding the impacts of green strategies on productivity and performance. At the end of the program, participants are assigned to a team to work on a group project to apply insights and concepts learned during the program.
