Due to efforts to contain the spread of the new coronavirus in China, the Business School of Renmin University of China has had to cancel their Global Network Week participation. (January 28, 2020).
In a major shift from the 1990's, when China was the manufacturing center of the world, China is now hosting many innovative companies such as Tencent, Xiaomi, and Huawei. During this year's GNW, we explore how some Chinese firms have moved away from pure manufacturing and engage in innovation in product development, service offering, and new business models. We will discuss whether China is going to fall into the middle income trap that have affected many emerging markets, or transition out of the "Made in China" era to the "Invented in China" era. We will expose students to many of the newest and ongoing inventions in China and introduce them to opportunities in several old and new high-tech industries and capital markets. This module is most suited for curious minded students, innovative entrepreneurs, and people who are interested in entering a large market with endless potential.
